bhp, kW and PS — which are not the same horsepower.

PS and bhp are two different horsepower: PS is 735.49875 watts and bhp is 745.7, so a PS figure reads about 1.4% higher for the same engine. A bare “hp” is ambiguous — European copy usually means PS and British copy usually means bhp.
